Measuring Your Pupil Distance (PD) To make your spectacles accurately we need to know your pupil distance (PD) which will ensure that the lenses are correctly positioned in relation to your eyes within the frames you have chosen. We recommend that you have your PD measured by an optometrist (optician), therefore ask when you get your eyes tested. If you do not supply your PD measurements then we will set them to the default PD of 63 millimetres. The PD distance is the measurement from the centre of the pupil of the right eye to the centre of the pupil of the left eye. To measure your PD ask a friend to place a ruler that is marked in millimetres across the bridge of your nose then line up the zero on the ruler to the outer iris on the right eye and measure to the inner iris on the left eye. Make sure you are looking staight ahead(try to focus on a point in the distance behind your friend) See diagram below. |

This method is used because it's easier to define the edge of your iris rather than the pupil especially if you have dark eyes.
