Any other questions? Just drop us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

1. What do I need to place an order?

To place an order all you need is an up to date prescription for glasses that is dated within the last 2 years. You also need your pupilary distance measured. This can be done by following the simple procedure in the help section, or ask an optician to do it for you. They may ask for a small charge or donation to their chosen charity..

  • 2. How do I order my glasses from you?

Its very simple, browse our website for your chosen frame then simply scroll down to select your lenses and extras as required. Enter your prescription or choose to fax/email it to us with your pupil distance ‘PD ‘ and your glasses order is ready for processing.

  • 3. What if I have entered some information incorrectly?

If you realise that you have entered some details incorrectly don’t worry, just fax/email us within 24 hours and we will change the details of your order.

  • 4. Can I order a frame only?

Yes you can order only a frame. If you simply wish to try it on and make sure it suits you then when you are happy return it to us and we will have your lenses made at no extra charge, then post them back ready for you to use. Frames can be purchased without the intention of having online optical shop manufacture your lenses.

  • 5. Can I order frame and lenses without a prescription?

If you intend to use the spectacles to correct your vision then you require a prescription. If you haven’t got a copy, then obtain one from the optician that did your last eyetest, most will give you a copy without charge however some may ask you to pay for it. If it is over a year old then we recommend saving the cost of a copy and having your eyes retested. You will then be given a copy included in the test fee. You are then free to buy your glasses from us.

  • 6. What if my frames need adjusting after I have received them?

Your frames will be adjusted at Optical Shop, before they leave our laboratory. However they may need some small adjustments to fit you perfectly. Most opticians will do this for you, but may charge you a small fee or ask for a donation to there chosen charity.

  • 7. Which frames will suit me best?

Most modern frames tend to be very similar in style. If you choose something similar to your current ones, then you will be safe in the knowledge they will suit you. However if you fancy a change and fancy something more radical at our prices you can afford to be a bit more daring. If everyone likes them TELL THEM WHERE YOU GOT THEM FROM !! If no one likes them you have two weeks to return them.

  • 8. What materials do you use for your lenses?

Our speciality is rimless frames, so we use a high quality thin lens material as standard for the majority of our rimless products complete with anti-reflection coating. We do this because they look better and are more durable. We also have a full range of other materials available, from standard plastic to super thin glass. Simply choose what you require and tailor your own spectacles.

  • 9. Can I get thinner lenses?

We can supply any lenses that you personally require.

  • 10. Do you sell Bi focal lenses?

We sell D-seg bi focals which we set automatically at 12mm above the lowest point of the frame. Years of optical experience has allowed us to conclude this is the most used type and the most frequently occurring fitting.

  • TOP
  • 11. Do you sell varifocal lenses?

We sell varifocals designed for large and small frames. We automatically select the most appropriate type for you at no extra charge for either design. This is unlike the high street optician where you can pay around £50 more for a small frame design. We have set heights for our varifocals again dependent on your frame choice, and you can buy with confidence using our two week money back guarantee.

  • 12. What is an anti reflection coating?

It is a multi layered coating that makes the lens more transparent so that it looks cosmetically better. They help reduce the glare from computer screens and artificial lights. They do not stop glare from the sun, you need TRANSITIONS to do that..

  • TOP
  • 13. What are photo chromic lenses?

Photo chromic lenses are lenses that change with the light, hence go darker in the sun. We call them Transitions on our site as this is the best known trademark as advertised on T.V

  • 14. What tints do you offer?

We offer a light, medium or dark tint in a range of colours. Not all our lenses can be tinted so the tint cannot be selected on certain items in the order section. However, if you have a particular requirement feel free to e-mail us and we will quote you for this if available.

  • 15. What is my P.D.?

Your P.D. or pupilary distance is the measurement between the two eyes, from the outer edge of one pupil to the inner edge of the other. The method to do this is outlined in Pupil Distance or PD.in the HELP section. If you are unsure we have a default setting of 63mm or you can simply ask an optician or friend to do this for you.

  • 16. Can I have scratch resistant coating applied to my lenses ?

Yes, our thin lenses come with a hard coat and an anti-reflection coating included in the price. All other lenses can be specified with coatings. If you choose an anti-reflection coating it will automatically be hard coated.

  • 17. What if my prescription is outside your range?

Simply e-mail/fax your details with the frame code of your choice from the site and we will quote you from our tailor made range. This range is designed specifically for this reason and is extremely competitive, with most spectacles being around 60% cheaper than the average high street optician.

  • 18. I do not have an “ADD” on my prescription what does this mean?

The “ADD” or reading addition is the amount of power that is added to your distance prescription to make a reading prescription. If you do not have an “ADD” it simply means you’re not old enough to need one YET!!

  • TOP
  • 19. How do I let you know if I want my glasses for distance or reading?

Simply choose from the drop down list and specify distance, reading, bi focal or varifocal. And we will do the rest.

  • TOP
  • 20. My prescription doesn’t have any cyl or axis values. WHY ?

It simply means you do not need them. If you are unsure how to read your prescription simply e-mail or fax to us and we will interpret the results for you.

  • TOP
  • 21. My prescription mentioned prism can you supply them?

Prisms can be supplied from our tailor made range. Simply e-mail/fax your details to us with the frame code of your choice from our site and we will quote you for your requirements.

  • 22. My prescription says “D.S”. What does this mean?

"D.S” stands for dioptre sphere, an optical term meaning you don’t need cylinders or axis in your prescription.

  • 28. Do you do prescription glasses for children?

The rules for supplying children with glasses are strict and although our frames and lenses are suitable, the child must be measured and have the collection/fitting done by a qualified dispensing optician/optometrist. Because the collection/fitting cannot be done by ourselves due to the on line nature of the business we CANNOT supply children with prescription glasses.
